Major General James C. Boozer, Sr. is the Deputy Commanding General/Chief of Staff of U.S. Army Europe. Prior to this posting, he served as the Operations Director, Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management and previous to that the Deputy Commander of the 1st Armored Division.
Major General Boozer is a native of Charleston SC, and was Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant through ROTC from the Citadel, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He also holds a Masters in Strategic Science from the United States Army War College.
Major General Boozer has served in a variety of command and
staff positions in the continental United States and around the world, as well as multiple deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and most recently as the Assistant Division Commander for Maneuver, 1st Armored Division, United States Army Europe and Seventh Army in Germany and as the Deputy Commanding General for Multi-National Division-North in Iraq.
He has commanded at the Company, Battalion, and Brigade level. His command assignments include Commander, C Battery, 1st Battalion, 84th Field Artillery, 9th Division Artillery, Fort Lewis Washing;
Commander 1st battalion, 77th Field Artillery, III Corps Artillery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Deputy Commander, III Corps Artillery, Fort Sill,
Oklahoma; Commander, 214th Field Artillery Brigade, III Corps Artillery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Operation Iraqi Freedom, Iraq; Assistant Division Commander for Maneuver, 1st Armored Division, United States Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany and in the Multi-National Division North, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Iraq.
His awards decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, The Legion of Merit with two Oak Leaf Clusters; the Bronze Star Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters; the Combat Action Badge; the Meritorious Service Medal with 6 Oak Leaf Clusters; the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; the Army Achievement Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters; and the Army Staff Identification.
