Debbie Mann Gibbs
Donation Professional: Charlotte, NCA veteran of the organ donation community, Debbie Mann Gibbs has spent most of her career as Public Relations Manager for LifeShare Of The Carolinas, a regional organ procurement organization. At LifeShare, Debbie has worked diligently to increase awareness of the critical shortage of organ and tissue donors. Her outreach efforts in the African American community were even featured on CBS’s “Eye on America.” A frequent consultant on several Health Resources and Services Administration initiatives, Debbie has also worked at the national level to increase the number of organ donors. She was a key contributor to Donate Life America’s African American outreach campaign. Debbie has served on the boards of several donation-related organizations, including the United Network for Organ Sharing; Donate Life America; the American Society of Minority Health and Transplant Professionals; and the National Kidney Foundation of North Carolina. Debbie Mann Gibbs has worked tirelessly to create awareness about organ donation in the African American community and beyond. Prior to joining LifeShare in1994, Debbie worked in communications and became the first African American female television reporter in Charlotte, N.C. Now married with three grown sons, she enjoys cooking, jazz, and community service work in her spare time.
