and Others Concerned:
Notice is hereby given that the Final Environmental Impact Statement
concerning the use of polyvinyl chloride liquor bottles has been prepared as
required by section 102(2)(C) of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969.
The Final Statement takes into account the comments received on the Draft
Environmental Impact Statement issued in February 1972 and the results of an
independent research study commissioned by ATF in October 1972. It is
anticipated that a decision on the use of polyvinyl chloride liquor bottles
will be made shortly after the expiration of a required thirty-day waiting
period.
The independent study, prepared by Bailie Associates, and the Final
Statement are available for examination at both the Department of Treasury
and ATF libraries. The Final Statement is also available for examination
at all ATF regional offices. Interested parties may purchase copies of the
Statement and the Bailie Associates' Study from the National Technical
Information Service, U.S. Department of Commerce, Springfield, Virginia
