Major General Todd T. Semonite

Deputy Commanding General

Major General Todd T. Semonite is the Department of the Army Deputy Chief of Engineers and the Deputy Commanding General of the US Army Corps of Engineers.  He most recently served as Commanding General, South Atlantic Division, responsible for the oversight of planning, design and construction projects to support the US Military, protect America’s water resources and restore and enhance the environment.  The South Atlantic Division is one of eight US Army Corps of Engineers' regions providing engineering and construction services to the Nation.  It is the US Army Corps of Engineers' regional business center in the southeast, the Caribbean and Central and South America with district offices in Wilmington, North Carolina; Charleston, South Carolina; Savannah, Georgia; Jacksonville, Florida; and Mobile, Alabama. 

Prior to assuming Command of the South Atlantic Division, General Semonite was the Commander of the US Army Corps of Engineers' North Atlantic Division in New York City.  He also served as Commanding General, Maneuver Support Center and Fort Leonard Wood and as Assistant Commandant, US Army Engineer School and Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.  Additionally, he served in a wide variety of command and staff positions including: Director, Office of the Chief of Engineers, Headquarters, Department of the Army at the Pentagon; Deputy Commander, Task Force Restore Iraqi Electricity (responsible for designing and executing a $1.1 billion reconstruction program); and Executive Officer to the Commanding General, US Army Europe (USAEUR) and 7th Army.

Major General Semonite also served as Commander of the 130th Engineer Brigade and the V Corps Engineer, Hanau, Germany; Chief of Military Operations and Topography and Chief of International Operations, both with USAREUR; Battalion Commander, 23rd Engineer Battalion, 1st Armored Division, Friedberg, Germany (with a one-year deployment to Bosnia); Construction and Design Supervisor, 416th Engineer Command, Chicago, Illinois; S4, 937th Engineer Group and S3 and Executive Officer, 1st Engineer Battalion, both at Fort Riley, Kansas; and Operations Officer, US Army Corps Of Engineers Office, Fort Drum, New York.

Major General Semonite, a native of Bellows Falls, Vermont is a registered professional engineer in Virginia and Vermont.  He graduated from the US Military Academy, West Point in New York and was commissioned into the US Army Corps of Engineers in 1979.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the US Military Academy, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering degree from the University of Vermont, and a Masters of Military Arts and Sciences from Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  He is a graduate of the Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Combined Arms Services Staff School, the Command and General Staff College, and the Army War College.

Major General Semonite’s awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit (4 Awards), Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (7 Awards), Army Commendation Medal (3 Awards), Army Achievement Medal, Army Superior Unit Award (2 Awards), NATO award, Ranger tab and Parachutist Badge.
