Adam S. Wilczewski holds the position of Chief of Staff at the International Trade Administration (ITA). A bureau within the U.S. Department of Commerce, ITA’s mission is to strengthen the competitiveness of U.S. industry, promote trade and investment, and ensure fair trade through the rigorous enforcement of trade laws and agreements.
Adam has built his career and professional track record managing, organizing and leading diverse groups and organizations throughout the United States. In his role as Chief of Staff, Adam plays a key role in managing ITA operations while directly supporting the Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade.
Prior to this post, Adam served as the Director of the Office of Strategic Partnerships in ITA’s Commercial Service unit. He successfully leveraged corporate and association partners to broaden and deepen the U.S. exporter base to create export opportunities. He also managed the New Market Exporter Initiative, a mission-critical component of President Obama’s National Export Initiative (NEI). Through this effort, the Office of Strategic Partnerships introduced ITA services to thousands of U.S. small-to-medium sized businesses and secured support for the NEI from top corporate leaders in the U.S.
Adam has strong political roots. Before joining ITA, Adam served as Deputy Political Director for the Obama for America Campaign in Florida. He also served as the Southern Finance Director in the primaries for the Joe Biden for President Campaign and in 2003, served as the Chief of Staff to the Campaign Director for the Joe Lieberman for President Campaign. Adam also held the position of Deputy Regional Field Director at the Democratic National Committee for the Kerry Campaign.
Adam has extensive experience in the private sector. As an Executive Director for CCS Fundraising, one of the most comprehensive and widely recommended fund-raising, consulting, and management firms in the world, Adam raised more than $34 million and conducted national feasibility studies for clients, including national associations, schools and churches. His knowledge of leveraging large corporate partners for involvement in public institutions yielded proven and measured results.
Adam earned a law degree from American University's Washington College of Law as well as a degree in International Relations from the University of Florida. He also holds a Certificate in International Mediation from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, The Netherlands and serves on the Advisory Council for the Public International Law & Policy Group in Washington, DC.
