Corps regional commander tapped for Brigadier General

Portland, Ore. - Col. Anthony C. Funkhouser, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Northwestern Division was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in the U.S. Army in a formal ceremony Feb. 1 in Washington D.C. The Army’s Chief of Engineers, Lt. Gen. Thomas P. Bostick, hosted the event.

Revised proposal for Crimson Ridge Mitigation Bank

KANSAS CITY, Mo.— The Kansas City District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has initiated a 30-day public comment period regarding a revised proposal from Habitat Kansas, LLC, to establish the Crimson Ridge Wetland and Stream Mitigation Bank.

Last contract awarded to repair 2011 flood damage

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The Kansas City District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded its final levee rehabilitation contract Friday, January 25, to repair flood damage from the historic flooding of the Missouri River which took place in 2011.

More than 100 people attended the Perry Lake Eagles Day on Jan. 26, 2013. It was sponsored by the Jayhawk Audobon Society, Lawrence Parks and Recreation--Prairie Park and Nature Center and the Kansas City District U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The event boasted live eagle presentations, black-footed ferret restoration efforts and guided eagle-viewing tours.

Members of the public use spotting scopes set up for the 16th Annual Eagle Days on Jan. 5, 2013, at Smithville Lake in Missouri. Approximately 2,150 people attended the event, many of which had never been to the lake. Here is a group of volunteers helping to clean up the roadsides around the lake. We really appreciate all the time and effort volunteers spend working at the lake.
