Senior U.S. Trade Official Francisco SÁnchez, U.s. Rep. Frank WOlf Highlight Export Opportunities for Virginia Companies
Sánchez Discusses How Increasing Exports can Help Boost Job Creation and Economic Growth in Virginia
WASHINGTON – Commerce Under Secretary for International Trade Francisco Sánchez visited Loudoun County, Va., today to discuss how President Obama’s National Export Initiative (NEI) will help Virginia manufacturers and service providers increase their exports, create jobs and boost the local economy. Sánchez spoke to new and experienced exporters at the “Exporting Essentials” Conference hosted by U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf.
“At the International Trade Administration, we are working every day to grow exporting opportunities for Virginia companies and others across the country to emerging markets like Brazil, China and India,” Sánchez said. “President Obama has challenged us through the NEI to double exports in five years to support several million U.S. jobs. Businesses like many here today that are engaged in these emerging markets will be critical to meeting this goal.”
Conference participants learned about export documentation, logistics, trade financing, and state and federal government resources available to them. The Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Brazil was also on hand to discuss real commercial opportunities in the country, as well as a panel of experienced exporters that offered insight on expanding business opportunities through exports.
President Obama announced the NEI during his State of the Union address earlier this year. The NEI will provide more funding, more focus and more Cabinet-level coordination to grow U.S. exports, and represents the first time the United States will have a government-wide export-promotion strategy with focused attention from the president and his Cabinet.
While in Loudoun County, Sánchez and Wolf also presented an export achievement certificate to Precision Tune Auto Care, Inc., for its continued success in exporting to growing markets. Sánchez congratulated the company for the example it’s set for other Virginia companies and thanked Precision Tune Auto Care’s President and CEO Robert Falconi.
“Precision Tune Auto Care is a true Virginia success story,” Wolf said. “They are a prime example of how the International Trade Administration is helping businesses not only begin to export, but working with them to break into new and emerging markets.”
Precision Tune Auto Care is a franchisor of full-service automotive care repair centers. A client of the Northern Virginia U.S. Export Assistance Center, the company utilizes many of the products of the International Trade Administration’s Commercial Service, which assists in expanding its export markets. Currently, Precision Tune Auto Care does business in the U.S., Canada, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Oman, Portugal, Spain and Taiwan, and has centers under construction in Nigeria and the Republic of Georgia.
