New York State has received funding through the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) for broadband mapping and planning activities. The funding will enable the mapping of New York’s un-served and underserved areas to facilitate deployment of high-speed Internet access across the state, increase digital literacy programs, and spur economic development.
The New York State Office of Cyber Security (OCS) was designated as the lead agency for the Broadband Mapping program in New York State. OCS is the lead agency in New York for statewide coordination of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) resources as well as mapping of critical infrastructure.
