Education Center Programs and Services:

  1. Individual counseling services:

Education counselors can assist you with everything from setting your education goals to creating your GoArmyEd account if you plan to use tuition assistance. Contact your education counselor for helpful information on college programs, school accreditation, GI Bill programs, college credit for military experience, financial aid, scholarships, commissioning programs, testing programs and much more. Speaking with a counselor is a great first step in pursuing your education goals.

Group counseling:

We would be happy to brief your unit or group. Group briefings can be tailored to provide an overview of available education services and benefits and to address particular areas of interest in detail.  We recommend that you schedule regular briefings to ensure your unit or group is up-to-date and taking full advantage of education benefits.

College programs:

Several on-site colleges offer courses leading to the award of credentials to include Associates, Bachelors, and Masters degrees. Both traditional classroom and distance education courses are available. (See our contact info to learn more about our local colleges.) There are also many other accredited colleges offering online programs. Your education counselor can help you narrow down your choices and decide on a school and degree that works for you. We highly recommend you check out any school with us before you commit any funds so that we can ensure the school is properly accredited.
Soldiers who wish to receive Army tuition assistance (TA) must enroll in classes through the GoArmyEd portal. Contact the education center for help in activating your GoArmyEd tuition assistance account.

  1. Functional Academic Skills Training (FAST):

Functional Academic Skills Training (FAST) provides Soldiers with instruction in reading, mathematics, and language skills and is an excellent tool to prepare Soldiers to improve their General Technical (GT) score in the Armed Forces Classification Test (AFCT). This class is a 60-hour long course. Contact the education center for a schedule of upcoming classes and information on how to get enrolled.

  1. Testing Services:

Testing services are available for a wide range of Army and academic examinations to include APT, DANTES, and proctored exams. All testing is done by appointment only.

Army Personnel Testing (APT)
The Army Personnel Testing (APT) program encompasses standardized tests used to determine eligibility for specialized training and to support the Army's personnel selection and classification process, including language proficiency testing. The program is governed by AR 611-5 Army Personnel Selection and Classification Tests.

College Testing
Many students who are enrolled in distance learning courses are required to take proctored college tests through the education center. These tests usually require that a Test Control Officer or test proctor be identified.

DANTES (Educational)
The Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Services (DANTES) Examination program assists an individual in earning a post high school credential, satisfy undergraduate and graduate level college admission requirements, earning college credit, or gaining professional certification.

National Test Center (NTC):
The Rose Barracks Education Center has a National Test Center operated by the University of Maryland University College-Europe (UMUC-E).The NTC offers on-site computer testing services to include College Level Examination Program (CLEP), DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST), and Pearson VUE online examinations and certifications. Contact the NTC at DSN 314-476-2462, CIV +49-(0)9662-832462 or visit http://www.ed.umuc.edu/general_info/testcenter/index.html for more information on NTC testing.

  1. Multi-use Learning Facility (MLF):

The MLF includes a computer lab and a wide range of military publications and civilian reference materials. All computers have CAC card readers. It is a great place to study, work on college assignments, and complete required Army training.
We look forward to seeing you at the Education Center!
