Sex Offender Compliance Check Conducted by U.S. Marshals, D.O.C., Ashland and Iron County Sheriff

Ashland and Iron County, WI – The U.S. Marshals along with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (D.O.C.) Sex Offender Registry Program, the Ashland and Iron County Sheriff’s Departments conducted a residence verification operation for registered sex offenders. On May 22nd and May 23rd deputies checked the addresses of 37 registered sex offenders in Ashland and Iron Counties. At least 1 was found to be non-compliant. The Sex Offender Registry Program Specialist will investigate and make recommendations to the district attorney.

This initiative is part of the working relationship between the U.S. Marshals Sex Offender Investigations Branch and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Sex Offender Registration Program which monitors all 22,055 Wisconsin Sex Offenders. The Wisconsin Department of Corrections maintains a database for the general public at http://offender.doc.state.wi.us/public/.
