Your source for information in, around, and about the U.S. Army Garrison Garmisch
Mission:
To advise the manager and staff on public affairs matters including public and command information and community relations; coordinate public affairs activities within BMC Garmisch; establish BMC Garmisch public affairs policy; and serve as the command spokesperson. As a personal staff officer, the Public Affairs Office (PAO) is eyes and ears of the garrison manager, her news media expert, and her personal liaison with the media. The PAO is the only official spokesperson for the manager and BMC Garmisch.
The PAO:
Advises and assists the BMC Garmisch manager and staff on public affairs matters. Coordinates all external public information functions within the command and all internal command information. This information includes information planning, dissemination of command information, and production of BMC Garmisch command information. Command information is disseminated to include the Garmisch page(s) of the bi-weekly Bavarian News, the regional newspaper for the USAG Grafenwoehr footprint; contribute command information stories and photographs to the IMCOM-Europe newsletter and Army News Service; coordinate command information radio and television news with Armed Forces Network; and manages the content of the garrison newsletter and web site. Maintains liaison with civilian and military information/ media representatives and assists them in obtaining information relating to the garrison. Provides guidance on special or sensitive incidents or situations that could attract media attention. Clears articles and speeches for local release. Conducts community relations programs for the greater Garmisch-Partenkirchen area. Develops and manages U.S. Army Garrison Garmisch public affairs funding.
