During their one year mission in support of the 7th Transportati...on Group, the 1st of the 178th conducted 4,750 missions accruing five million miles providing convoy security for 10 different active duty divisions/brigade combat teams and 13 coalition countries. They also escorted up to 720 tractor-trailers daily on sustainment convoys between Convoy Support Center (CSC) Navistar, Kuwait and CSC Cedar II, Iraq, allowing critical supplies to be delivered from the Kuwaiti theater of operations throughout the Iraqi combat zone.See More

Peavy of Columbia on the occasion of his retirement today after 21-years of active duty service in the S.C. National Guard (SCNG). Ch...aracterized by Livingston as a caring, selfless Soldier who will be truly missed, the general awarded Peavy the U.S. Army's Meritorious Service Medal during the retirement ceremony. Throughout his distinguished career, Peavy has worked with over 5,000 children of S.C. National Guardsmen as "First Sergeant" at the Guard's annual, week-long Youth Camp. Col. (Ret.) Debra McNamee, the state's Family Programs Director, created a top camper award this year and named it in honor of Peavy's selfless, dedicated service to the children of our state's Guardsmen. A long-known supporter of Guard Families, Peavy's final assignment in the National Guard was serving as the SCNG Family Programs Personnel Services NCOIC/Operations NCOIC for the J1.1 Directorate. Peavy is married to the former Brenda Bradham and together they have three daughters, Deborah, Jessica and Victoria.See More
