Obama doesn’t deserve praise
Letters to the Editor, September 10, 2012
Regarding Colbert I. King’s Sept. 4 column “Election gets down to business after conventions”: I don’t usually comment on what I read, but this is too much and way over the top.
He wrote: “Four years on, [President Barack] Obama is the most experienced, best grounded, most honest and decent leader to take the country through the challenges that face us.” Wow, where to begin.
Where was this guy the last four years? On another planet? The least King can do is be honest. I don’t really like either presidential candidate; both are cut from the same cloth to one degree or another. But we at least know who Mitt Romney is.
King shouldn’t be disingenuous. This president has made lying and putting the blame on everyone but himself his trademarks. As a leader, if you accept responsibility (as he did when he was elected) the blame stops at your desk, not at someone else’s.
If you can’t trust your leaders, it is very difficult to respect them, or follow them.
