Demonstrating the Platform for Policing Research: Life Course of the Organization

The demonstration of the policing research platform will define and measure key dimensions of organizational performance. The goal is to produce norms or benchmarks on diverse aspects of agency performance including leadership, supervision, accountability, use of data and technology, relationship to the community, styles of policing, work climate and so forth.

The research will identify factors that shape an organization's performance and accountability systems, supervisory practices, police culture, and the quantity and quality of street-level policing. Agency- and community-level data will provide a context for understanding both officer and supervisor data.

Researchers will conduct surveys of and interviews with employees at all levels of the organization to capture data from employees representing different backgrounds, bureaus, functions and experience.
