Eyewitness Evidence: A Guide for Law Enforcement

October 1999
Although the evidence eyewitnesses provide is critical in identifying, charging, and ultimately convicting suspected criminals, the evidence is not infallible. Eyewitness Evidence: A Guide for Law Enforcement outlines basic procedures to obtain the most reliable and accurate information from eyewitnesses. A few of the topics discussed in this NIJ Research Report include procedures for interviewing the witness and procedures for witness identification of suspects.
