Explore Clean Energy Technologies

Technologies that can make a world of difference

The Visitors Center at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) National Renewable Energy Laboratory showcases technologies that can save energy, create jobs, and generate clean electricity and fuels from plentiful domestic, carbon-free sources. The Visitors Center itself is a model for energy-efficient design and takes advantage of the sun for heating and lighting.

Energy exhibits

Visitors of all ages can take a self-guided tour through the interactive exhibit hall and learn about energy from the sun, wind, biomass, hydrogen, and other sources of renewable energy. Find out how scientists capture alternative energy resources to produce electricity and fuels. Investigate advanced vehicles. Outside, see utility-scale wind turbine components and learn more about small-scale wind and solar power in your yard.

Information resources

The DOE Public Records Center is an interactive kiosk that provides news and relevant consumer information about renewable energy research and technologies. The NREL information kiosk provides information in a searchable database on the Laboratory's research and development programs, as well as technology-specific reports and studies. Group programs are available for all ages at no charge. Knowledgeable volunteers are always happy to answer questions and provide assistance.
