Successful Global Positioning System IIF-3 Launch from Cape Canaveral AFS
A U.S. Air Force Global Positioning Systems satellite built by Boeing was successfully launched today. The third GPS IIF satellite, Space Vehicle Number 65, was carried aboard a United Launch Alliance Delta IV Launch Vehicle at 8:10 a.m. EDT Oct. 4 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla.

Air Force's premiere tactical cyber wing gets new commander
The 'cyber gunslingers' of the Air Force's premier cyber unit and winner of the Omaha Trophy, U.S. Strategic Command's award for Best Global Operations, the 67th Network Warfare Wing, participated in the time honored military tradition of formally passing the command flag. Col. Kevin Wooten relinquished wing command to Col. William Poirier, as Maj. Gen. Suzanne Vautrinot, 24th Air Force commander, presided over the ceremony in historic Hangar 1610 at Kelly Field.

Air Force launches 2nd advanced satellite
The 45th Space Wing successfully launched the second Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) satellite onboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V vehicle here today from launch pad 41 at 2:42 p.m., on May 4. AEHF-1 was launched from here in August of 2010.

African American Gave Ultimate Sacrifice During Space Shuttle Mission
Lt. Col. Michael P. Anderson was one of only a handful of African-American astronauts and was one of the seven crewmembers aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia when it exploded on re-entry just 16 minutes before its scheduled touchdown Feb. 1, 2003. His accomplishments were numerous, and he showed that nothing should get in the way of a person's goals, including their race.
