Outreach / Community Relations Main

Since arriving in South Florida in 1997, SOUTHCOM has steadfastly supported the local community.

SOUTHCOM people are mainstays in community organizations and annually contribute approximately 30,000 volunteer hours to local charity groups, community projects and events.

Additionally, the South Florida community extends official invites to SOUTHCOM personnel to participate in more than 50 events each year, such as color guard presentations at sporting events and parades, and requests to give speeches at meetings and events sponsored by local organizations.

More than 1,200 military and civilian SOUTHCOM employees work, live, shop and play in South Florida. In addition to the SOUTHCOM staff, about 1,100 people from other military commands and U.S. government agencies now call the SOUTHCOM headquarters their home.
