The roles and responsibilities identified below are vital to the overall success of this mission:

• Brigade/Group/Division/Corps Surgeon: These individuals ensure proper implementation of the Train as you Fight Initiative. They track battalion aid stations (BAS) operating under their command by implementing, monitoring and directing policies and guidelines for utilization of the MC4 system in garrison.
• Unit Commander: A garrison unit commander provides oversight for the implementation, maintenance and use of the MC4 system under garrison use. A Unit commander ensures compliance with regulations and standards, and enforces unit monitoring of electronic medical record (EMR) transmissions, in accordance with the Commander’s Guide to MC4.
• Network Enterprise Center (NEC): A NEC, formerly known as the Directorate of Information Management (DOIM), plays a critical role in the overall success of the mission. A NEC provides network and Internet connectivity for garrison units using the MC4 system.
• MC4 Region Support Office: Each region support office (RSO) provides support based on the geographical location of the garrison end users. The RSOs provide the sustainment automation support management office (SASMO) with tier 3 support.
• SASMO: A SASMO plays a major role in sustaining MC4 systems under garrison use. They provide support for all MC4 hardware and software used by garrison units. A SASMO provides unit level administrators (ULAs) with tier 2 support.
• Unit Level Administrator: A unit level administrator (ULA) provides daily assistance to the end user by installing, maintaining and troubleshooting MC4 work stations and servers. A ULA provides tier 1 support to end users.
