U.S. Colleges, Universities, Art and Trade Schools Offering Video Game Courses, Certificates and Degree Programs
A record 381 colleges, universities, art and trade schools across the country offer courses, professional certificates, undergraduate or graduate degrees in video game design, development and programming, according to new research from the Entertainment Software Association (ESA). For the first time, schools in all 50 states will be preparing students for a career in the video game industry. View our complete list here.
Summer Camps Focusing on Video Game Design and Development
The development of more than 300 camp programs reflects a growth in pursuing game design careers and the academic rigor that underpins the industry's recent advances. In addition, for students with an interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), video game design camp offers a fun and exciting way to learn and develop these important skills. View our complete list of camps here.
STEM Video Game Challenge
ESA proudly co-sponsors the National STEM Video Game Challenge, an annual competition to motivate interest in science, technology, engineering and math subjects by tapping into the natural passion of youth for playing and making video games. To meet previous challenge winners, and learn more about the competition, please visit http://www.stemchallenge.org.
Video Games in the 21st Century
Download our Video Games in the 21st Century: The 2010 Report, which measures the economic contributions made by the U.S. entertainment software industry to the American economy from 2005-2009. Individual state reports can be downloaded from our Economic Data page.
Video Game Voters Network
Video games are often threatened by legislation on the federal, state and local levels, and it is time for gamers to stand up and voice their concerns. The Video Game Voters Network leads this battle.
Resources for Parents
ESA works to help parents make sure that children are safe online and play video games their parents consider appropriate. Through the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), ESA has voluntarily established numerous tools and policies to help parents make educated choices, and to encourage retailers to sell age-appropriate games to youth.
Anti-Piracy Information
The objective of ESA's Anti-Piracy Program is to attack and reduce global entertainment software piracy, which is estimated to cost the U.S. industry millions of dollars every year. The program's primary components are policy work, training and education, and a number of different enforcement efforts in the United States and abroad.
