The U.S. Southern Command Inspector General (IG) assists the Combatant Commander to maintain effectiveness by monitoring issues such as command and control, the maintenance of high standards of joint operational readiness, and the execution of effective operational security programs.
The Inspector General conducts scheduled inspections, no-notice inspections, and investigations of component command units.
Following an inspection or investigation, the Inspector General recommends necessary actions to address any existing problems or deficiencies.
