Fox News Journalist Rosen to Explain President Nixon’s “Strong Man”

James Rosen Lays Out Life of Former Attorney General John Mitchell

In Yorba Linda June 17 at 7:00 p.m.

June 5, Yorba Linda, CA—The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum, a nonpartisan federal institution, announced today that Fox News reporter James Rosen will discuss his new book The Strong Man: John Mitchell and the Secrets of Watergate, the first full-length biography of Attorney General John Mitchell. Rosen will speak at the Library’s Yorba Linda facility on June 17 at 7 p.m.
Mitchell, one of President Nixon’s political advisers, was a former Wall Street lawyer who guided Nixon’s 1968 presidential campaign. He was manager of President Nixon’s reelection campaign in 1972 until his resignation after the break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters in June 1972.  In 1975, he became the first U.S. attorney general to be sentenced to prison for criminal acts, a consequence of the Watergate investigations.

“Part of the Nixon Library’s mission is to encourage a free spirit of inquiry into all aspects of the Nixon administration, including the Watergate abuses of government power,” Library director Tim Naftali said. “Inviting James Rosen continues our tradition of hosting speakers from all points of view.”
The Library has hosted several events pertaining to Watergate or featuring Watergate figures in recent months, including events with journalist Carl Bernstein of the Woodward and Bernstein investigative team, former deputy attorney general William Ruckelshaus (who resigned during the “Saturday Night Massacre” in October 1973), Ed Gray (who co-wrote the posthumously published memoirs of his father, former FBI director L. Patrick Gray III) and Egil “Bud” Krogh, head of the so-called “Plumbers” unit.
