Grants
In 2011, FVAP made available $25,442,413.56 in grants to States and localities to improve the voting process for military and overseas citizens. These federal funds are to support research of electronic absentee voting technology to make the absentee voting process easier and more efficient for absent military and overseas citizens. The goal is to improve the voting experience for military and overseas voters by reducing impediments to voting and stimulating the use of innovative technologies.
The program, known as the Electronic Absentee Systems for Elections (EASE) is the first time FVAP has awarded funds to States and localities through a competitive grant process.

Discussions with the recommended grant recipients are complete. FVAP issued 35 grants to State and local election jurisdictions.
