GSA Joins in Government Campaign to Fight Hunger

Video Length: 1 minute 25 seconds

Hunger never takes a break, no matter what time of year it is. That’s why GSA is teaming up with its agency partners to launch a nationwide summer food and nonperishables giving campaign.

The kickoff celebration was June 7 at the Capital Area Food Bank in Washington. GSA's Deputy Administrator Susan Brita helped launch the summer food drive, which runs through the end of August, by telling the audience the importance of helping those who are less fortunate. Brita also said that GSA employees are ready to step up to the challenge of helping those in need.

At the kickoff, GSA, congressional representatives, and government leader donated more than 824 pounds of nonperishable items to start the giving.

All across the county, food banks and other community assistance organizations are in desperate need of charitable donations. The event puts the spotlight on a record number of families, children, individuals, and first-time visitors seeking food assistance.
