Preparedness

Since September 11, 2001—citizen preparedness has become a requirement and as the premier headquarters to support the nation during a crisis event, it is paramount that the NORTHCOM community be prepared citizens who can be counted on to execute the mission independent of an crisis event facing them.

Individuals and families should:

  • Know how to respond to severe weather or any disaster that could occur in your area— extreme cold, flooding, flu, hazardous material, and terrorism.

  • Be ready to be self-sufficient, this may mean providing for shelter, first aid, food, water, and sanitation.

    Being prepared can reduce fear, anxiety, and losses that accompany disasters.
