Description

Have you ever wanted the public to "check-in" at your agency, special location, or event? Do you have a need for the public to view, receive information, connect with friends, and unlock rewards from viewing your posting?

With foursquare, the National Archives has further expanded its social media presence with outreach and communication with the public. During this webinar, you'll learn about foursquare, a geolocation-based social network, and how it can help you connect and better serve the public with information when and where they need it. By joining foursquare, the National Archives invites users to learn more about this nation’s history via social media. Each tip highlights an interesting place or event related to the National Archives and the Presidential Libraries & Museums. Tips can be sent to smart phones based on user locations or viewed on the Web.

National Archives' Social Media Manager, Jill James, will talk about how participating on foursquare helps implement the National Archives' social media strategy and fulfill the agency's mission of increasing access to the government's records. The Archives hosts two foursquare brand pages, which together have more than 9,500 followers:

•usnatarchives—learn about locations associated with our nation's treasures
•ourpresidents—"walk with the Presidents" and learn about locations where Presidential history has occurred
Foursquare team member, Charles Birnbaum, will also talk about brand pages and strategic approaches for government organizations, news media, and cultural institutions on foursquare.
