When Janey Comes Marching Home: Portraits of Women Combat Veterans is a multi-media initiative - gallery show, book, and documentary film - that presents a complex portrait of service women returning from war zones in Iraq and Afghanistan.


This Emotional Life, a television series which examines the science behind our emotions, the challenges to our well-being (including issues such as PTSD), and the pursuit for happiness premiers on PBS on January 4, 2010.

Produced by the Emmy Award-winning team of the NOVA Science Unit and Paul Allen’s Vulcan Productions , this three-part PBS series (airing January 4-6, 9pm/8pm central) examines the science behind our emotions, the challenges to our well-being, and the keys to becoming more resilient individuals able to lead happier and more fulfilling lives. The series is also anchored by a two-year outreach campaign with a special focus on service members and their families.

 


Discover the CDC Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports Campaign

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has estimated that as many as 3.8 million sports and recreation related concussions occur in the United States each year. In response, the CDC has developed the Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports campaign to increase awareness and knowledge among youth sports coaches and administrators about concussion and the need to manage concussions.

The CDC campaign contains helpful, easy-to-use information including: fact sheets, a clipboard, magnets and posters available at no cost at: http://www.cdc.gov/concussion/HeadsUp/youth.html.
