Mission Statement
Nevada Skies Youth Wellness Center provides Native American adolescents culturally relevant substance abuse treatment and other behavioral health interventions to address addictive lifestyles, to assist in the development of dignity and self-respect while instilling hope and promoting wellness in youth, families, and communities.
Vision Statement
- Nevada Skies provides a path towards wellness for Native American Youth who are in need of substance abuse treatment and may have other mental health treatment needs.
- Nevada Skies is dedicated to our youth's optimal success and towards the development of an alliance with our residents' family and cultural values.
Facility
- Nevada Skies is a 16-bed residential treatment center.
- The 90-day therapeutic program uses; a multi-disciplinary care team approach to treatment for youth between the ages of 12-18.
- NSYWC is funded and operated by Indian Health Service and services are provided at no direct cost to the adolescent.

Treatment Philosophy
- NSYWC serves adolescents in their quest for a substance-free lifestyle.
- We educate our youth on how substance abuse negatively impacts their mind, body, spirit, and community.
- Services are individualized and culturally relevant.
- The core values of human dignity, honesty and compassion are emphasized in all aspects of our treatment.
- Traditional Values that emphasize active listening, mutual respect, dignity and harmony are the foundation of our program.

Treatment Services
- Individual, Group, and Family therapy
- Support Groups; AA/NA, Alateen, Big Book, Talking Circles, prayer, journaling…
- Culture Activities; spiritual and cultural awareness, sweat lodge, experiential outings, traditional foods, arts and crafts, music and dance.
- Recreation; hiking, aerobics, basketball, volleyball and other planned activities; high and low ropes, zip-line, and Equine Therapy.

Admission Criteria
- An adolescent 12 - 18 years of age
- A member of a Federally recognized Tribe.
- Primary diagnosis of Alcohol and/or Drug Abuse.
- May have a co-occurring mental health disorder.
- Service population; Nevada, Arizona, and parts of Idaho and Oregon.
The Following Conditions will Preclude Admission
- Medical instability- any person who is experiencing an acute medical problem that would interfere with benefiting from the treatment program.
- Actively suicidal or recent serious self abuse
- Actively homicidal or recent acts of serious violence
- Actively psychotic or impairment in reality testing
- Intellectually challenged (I.Q. of 70 or less) or having other equivalent cognitive deficiencies which would interfere with treatment benefits as determined through standardized testing by licensed professional.
- Concurrent admission of a sibling or close relative (cousin, etc.)

Referrals and Admissions
Referrals for services can be received from:
- Tribal Substance Abuse Programs
- Social Services
- Mental Health Professionals
- Juvenile Probation & Courts.
- Parents/Legal Guardians
