     Hiring Heroes Program
The mission of the Department of Defense is to provide the military forces needed to deter war and to protect the security of our country.
Ms. Karen S. Hannah serves as the Hiring Heroes Program Manager for the Department of Defense (DoD) in the Civilian Personnel Management Service, Recruitment Assistance Division.

In this role, she is responsible for providing advice and assistance to Veterans in their search for employment opportunities.  Since April 2005, Ms. Hannah has led a dynamic team responsible for conducting Hiring Heroes Career Fairs and Resume Writing and Job Search Workshops across the Nation for our wounded, ill and injured service members, Veterans, their spouses/family members and primary caregivers. These events ensure that our wounded service members, Veterans and their spouses/parents have every opportunity to network and find employment with employers from DoD, other Federal agencies and private sector.  Prior to her career with CPMS, she held numerous positions within the Department of Army, Department of Navy, Department of Commerce and NASA.

The Department of Defense recognizes the outstanding knowledge, skills and abilities that prior military can bring to the civilian workforce and has a dedicated staff ready to assist individuals in their search for employment.   Ms. Hannah and her team of career advisors are available to answer questions and assist Veterans with any questions they may have through DoD’s toll-free number (1-888-DoD-4USA), email hiringheroes@cpms.osd.mil or during LiveChat  (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. EST accessed through www.goDefense.com.)
