Office of the Designated Approving Authority (ODAA)

The Office of the Designated Approving Authority (ODAA) within the Industrial Security Field Operations is responsible for certification and accreditation (C&A) and oversight and management of cleared contractor's collateral classified computer systems. The ODAA is composed of computer security professionals located throughout the DSS regions. The headquarters ODAA office is responsible for setting procedures and standards for contractors and DSS staff to facilitate and accomplish consistent and efficient C&A activities.

C&A process includes:

  • All system security plans will be submitted to the ODAA for approval.
  • The ODAA will be the primary accreditation authority for cleared Industry's collateral classified computer systems.

The ODAA also:

  • Develop and coordinate Memorandums of Understanding/ Memorandums of Agreement,
  • Provides technical support to International,
  • Provides technical support to Foreign Ownership, Control or Influence (FOCI),
  • Develops C&A tools and technical configuration standards, and
  • Develops implementation procedures, white papers, and policy recommendations to address technical and implementation issues.
  • Supports DSS Cybersecurity mission.
  • Support NISP contractors by attending and presenting briefings/training at industry conferences and working groups.
