IMPORTANT MESSAGE: As of 8 July 2008, Utah began using a tiered motorcycle licensing system as detailed below:
  • If a rider tests on a 249cc or less motorcycle or scooter, he/she will be restricted to 249cc or less.
  • If a rider tests on a 649cc or less motorcycle or scooter, he/she will be restricted to 649cc or less.
  • If a rider tests on a motorcycle or scooter 650cc or larger, he/she will be allowed to ride any size motorcycle or scooter.

Military riders are required to complete a Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) course prior to riding a motorcycle on any roadway on or off base.

Civilian riders are no longer required to complete a MSF Course to ride on base; however, it is highly recommend civilians complete approved MSF training prior to riding a motorcycle or attend a MSF course as refresher training.

All riders are required to have a motorcycle endorsement on their state issued driver’s license to ride on base.

A state issued temporary permit will not allow any rider to ride on base unless riding to their scheduled MSF course. Note: Riders with temporary permits are restricted to ride to their scheduled MSF course on the days of the course only. These riders will need to contact the Safety Office a few days prior to their course to pick up a temporary permit which will allow them to ride on base to their course.

The Basic Rider Course2 (BRC2) (formerly Experienced Riders Course) is held in Bldg. 513 near training range in classroom 107. Course starts at 0700 and end at approximately 1600 with a one hour lunch break. Students will meet with the RiderCoach in the classroom to take care of the required paperwork. RiderCoachs will then give further directions. BRC2 is a 1-day course.

The Basic Rider Course (BRC) is also held in Bldg. 513 near training range in classroom 107. BRC is a 2-day course.
