Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced today that the President has made the following nominations:
Army Maj. Gen. Mark S. Bowman, for the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as director for command, control, communications and computers/cyber; Chief Information Officer, J-6, Joint Staff, Washington, DC. Bowman is currently serving as director, J-6, Joint Staff, Washington, DC.
Army Maj Gen. Frederick B. Hodges, for the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as commander, Land Component Command -- Izmir, North Atlantic Treaty Organization , Turkey. Hodges is currently serving as chief of land command, Izmir, Stand Up Team, North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Turkey.
Army Reserve Brig. Gen. David J. Conboy, for the rank of major general and for assignment as commander, 416th Engineer Command, Darien, Ill. Conboy is currently serving as deputy commanding general, Eighth U.S. Army, Korea.
Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Michael R. Smith, for the rank of major general and for assignment as deputy commanding general, First Army, Rock Island, Ill. Smith is currently serving as commander, 800th Military Police Brigade, Uniondale, N.Y.
Army Reserve Col. Ural D. Glanville, for the rank of brigadier general and for assignment as commander, Rule of Law Field Force-Afghanistan, U.S. Forces-Afghanistan, Kabul, Afghanistan. Glanville most recently served as commander, 213th Legal Support Organization, Decatur, Ga.
