A tutorial on preparing to get a job. Includes tips for writing a resume.

I love it when information is presented in a visual step-by-step fashion, such as this. May I suggest adding content on the importance of demonstrating your trustworthiness and character to a prospective employers?

In my own adult family home business, honesty is the number one priority in hiring. I would rather hire an honest person with no experience, and give them the education they need, than hire a paper-qualified person with questionable ethics. I can't emphasize enough how important character is. If you have it, you have a valuable, marketable feature! Take advantage of it!

If you are truly an ethical person, lead off in your interviews with that information. Demonstrate it by showing past responsibilities, and providing written references. Want to really get your employers attention? If you've never filed a workers compensation claim, or unemployment claim, tell them so! They cannot ask you these questions in an interview, but they definitely want to know! This is key information that will put you miles ahead of the competition. Also, if it's true, tell them that you have never taken drugs. This is powerful.

The job market favors people with integrity, people who work hard, and people who show up on time. So sell those features if you honestly have them! Hope this helps.
