DCoE Featured in Special Issue of ‘Military Medicine’
By DCoE Strategic Communications
“Military Medicine,” the monthly international journal of The Association of Military Surgeons of the United States (AMSUS), the Society of Federal Health Professionals, has just published a “Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury” special supplemental. The edition highlights the recent progress made in the epidemiology, prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and research of posttraumatic stress disorder, depression, substance use disorder and traumatic brain injury. Although much about these subjects is still unknown, Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (DCoE) continues to seek ways to improve the continuum of care for service members and veterans’ well-being.
This supplemental issue was developed through the collaborative efforts of DCoE, Center for Deployment Psychology, Department of Veterans Affairs, Harvard University, U.S. Navy, Dartmouth College, U.S. Army and Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. It serves as a positive reflection of the progress made in the field of military medicine after more than a decade of war, and as a reminder that this journey is not yet complete.
The articles in this special publication focus on where we have been, where we are and where we need to go. It is through committed, ongoing collaboration that further advances in military medicine will be made.
