Colonel Kurt V. Woyak is the Vice Commander of the 161st Air Refueling Wing at Sky Harbor International Airport, Phoenix, Ariz. He is responsible for assisting the Wing Commander in the management, training, and command and control of one of the key aerial refueling wings in the Air National Guard. The wing is equipped with eight KC-135R aircraft and supports both the Single Integrated Operational Plan (SIOP) and conventional tanker missions.

Following graduation from Milwaukee School of Engineering in May 1983, Colonel Woyak attended the U.S. Navy Aviation Officer Candidate School and was commissioned an Ensign in September 1983. After graduating from pilot training at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Texas, he served as a C-130 and E-6 "TACAMO" aircraft commander for Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron Four at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md. During this time he served in maintenance and aircrew training leadership positions.

Colonel Woyak transferred to the U.S. Air Force Reserve in 1993 and began flying the KC-135R while serving as the 434th Air Refueling Wing flying safety officer at Grissom Air Reserve Base, Ind. He transferred to the Air National Guard in 1996 and began flying the KC-135E while serving in leadership positions in the 161st Air Refueling Wing located in Phoenix, Ariz.

Colonel Woyak has participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Noble Eagle. He has served in key leadership roles while deployed to Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, and Southwest Asia.

In his civilian career Colonel Woyak has been employed by Honeywell International since 1995. He has served in leadership roles in finance, six sigma and lean, business development, and program management. He is currently on military leave.
