Health Statistics

The statistical section of the Bureau of New Mexico Vital Records and Health Statistics is responsible for analyzing and tabulating vital records data, and using this data to analyze the health status of New Mexicans. Staff are also responsible for reviewing and querying source documents, coding and preparing data for key entry, maintaining statistical data files, and responding to public inquiries for aggregate data.

These efforts are strongly supported by the registration, training, correction and amendment efforts of the records staff, who also maintains the other component of the vital records program - the issuance of certified copies of vital records. The state office is supported locally by 26 local registrars throughout the state.
