Great job to Air Force Global Strike Command #Airmen on making the AF Week in Photos! Airman 1st Class James L. captured shots of Exercise Combat Raider at Ellsworth Air Force Base, while Senior Apryl Hall took shots of defenders training how they fight at Minot Air Force Base. Check out these photos to see our #GlobalStrike Airmen in action.
If you ever wondered what life was like as a Air Force Global Strike Command Missileer, this article should give you a pretty clear idea. Capt Bonovitch reflects on his time "pulling alerts" in Launch Control Centers at our Northern Tier missile wings and supporting test launches out of 30th Space Wing (Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif.)

AFGSC Commander, Gen. Robin Rand, talks about the privilege of serving Thanksgiving Dinner to Barksdale Air Force Base #Airmen.
Strikers,
On Thanksgiving Day, Kim and I along with the AFGSC vice commander, Maj. Gen. Fortney and his wife, Karen, had the distinct pleasure of spending some ...time at the Barksdale Club with some of our Airmen and families. Since the Dining Facility at Barksdale is still under renovation, the Club staff and 2 FSS dining facility team co-hosted an amazing Thanksgiving feast! I want to give a special shout out to the Airmen pictured here: A1C Ross Rivera Hernandez, MSgt Eric Bryan, A1C Hunter Benham and A1C Kyle Harris. They rock!! With the exception of MSgt Bryan, these young Airmen have been in the Air Force for less than two years, and are highly motivated in what they do. More than 280 people were served that day, and many said they would not have had a Thanksgiving meal if it weren’t for our club staff and 2 FSS Airmen. Well done, gang! I am grateful for your service.
See MoreHow many different suits do you wear in your jobs? 1st Lt Anthony Perkins wears three - a missileer's flight suit, a volunteer firefighter's uniform, and that of an EMT. It's just his way of making a difference in his community.
Great story about two brothers serving together at Minot Air Force Base. Both Airmen play an important role in maintaining the 91st Missile Wing’s ICBM capability. #globalstrike

Although you probably can't tell from looking at the photo, this B-52 is taking part in an integration exercise between B-1 and B-52 #Airmen. Air Force Global Strike Command is constantly training aircrew across mutliple platforms to increase individual experience and interoperability. #globalstrike
Happy B-52uesday, Team Barksdale! This B-52 in particular included a B-1 Lancer aviator serving as a crewmember, and acting as the mission commander of the inaugural integration flight with a B-1 this last June.

52 years ago, yesterday, Nov. 27, 1964, Secretary of Defense McNamara approved Project Long Life. This program called for the short range operational base launc...h of three modified model 'B' Minuteman I ICBMs at Ellsworth Air Force Base. Each missile would contain enough propellant in its first stage to allow for a seven second flight. The rest of the missile, its upper stages and reentry vehicle would be inert. The primary objective of Project Long Life was to launch an ICBM from as realistic an operational environment as possible.

This Thanksgiving, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) gives thanks for those serving the nation.
AFGSC Commander, Gen. Robin Rand, gives thanks to Air Force Global Strike Command #Airmen, especially those spending Thanksgiving away from their families to "keep the wolves at bay."
#globalstrike #airpower
Strikers,
Not all Global Strike Airmen will get a chance to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with their families. Whether they’re bomber aircrew, defenders or ma...intainers overseas or missile Airmen deployed in the Northern Tier of the U.S., someone has to man the watch. Gang, our mission doesn’t take a break, so I ask that you keep our warriors in your thoughts and prayers. They’ve definitely made my short list for what I’m grateful for this year.
As a matter of fact, it’s hard for me not to keep them in mind as I think about all of the other things in this life that I’m grateful for — my family, especially my grandchildren, for the freedoms we all enjoy and our way of life. As I go down the list, images of a Striker Airman patrolling in and around a missile facility comes to mind. The image of a Missileer monitoring one of our nation’s most powerful assets, waiting for a call they hope never comes. As I keep going down the list, I’m mindful of our B-52 and B-1 aircrews and maintainers who are deployed to the CENTCOM and PACOM AORs right now taking the fight to ISIS and keeping the “wolves at bay” around the world.
Without our Striker Airmen, and their fellow Air Force wingmen, soldiers, sailors, and marines, none of us get the other stuff to be grateful for. Finally, as we approach Thanksgiving, I’m thinking about our family members who support our Airmen and sacrifice for our AF way of life.
I’m grateful for every single one of you. Happy Thanksgiving Teammates!
#OTD in 1981, Strategic Air Command sent eight B-52s from its Strategic Projection Force on Exercise Bright Star 82, the longest nonstop bombing mission in history to date. After a 31-hour, 15,000-mile flight, the B-52s from the 319 BMW at Grand Forks Air Force Base and the 5 BMW at Minot Air Force Base dropped bombs on a simulated runway in Egypt. #globalstrike #airpower

AFGSC Commander, Gen. Robin Rand, spotlights his visit with Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards, as well as the command's quality-of-life initiatives for its #Airmen.
Strikers,
Last week, I had the opportunity to meet with Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards, a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, and... 82nd Airborne Division veteran. He’s also a champion of our Airmen, and other service members who currently live and work in the state of Louisiana, with a keen appreciation of the selfless nature of our service and what all of you go through on a day-to-day basis. Pictured with Governor Edwards and myself are the 2nd Bomb Wing Commander Colonel Ty W. Neuman, Governor Edwards, myself, Eighth Air Force Commander Major General Thomas A. Bussiere and Don Pierson, Secretary of Louisiana Economic Development.
Governor Edwards and I had a chance to discuss issues that are important to our Airmen and families. These areas include included quality of life activities, housing, schools, and medical care. Positive relations with state and local leaders are critical if we are going to make improvements in these areas. Along these lines, in October I met with all the AFGSC Wing Vice Commanders, Mission Support Group Commanders and Medical Group Commanders and asked them to identify challenges and best practices in each of these areas that exist at their bases. We’re serious folks….we are going to attack existing shortfalls and do everything possible to improve the quality of life our Airmen and families deserve.
Strikers — I want to applaud you and your efforts in protecting our nation and allies. As you serve and protect our Nation, it’s critical that we concentrate on taking care of you and your families. Continue to bring issues and possible solutions to your leadership teams and I promise you, that we’ll do everything possible to deliver positive changes and results. In the meantime, continue to do what you do best — deter, assure, and when necessary, strike!
Four Aggies are bringing you today’s Kyle Field flyover. Your gifts via The Association help pay for accommodations for flyover aircrew!
