Personnel in the National Guard Command Center in Arlington, Va., monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Isaac as it makes its way through the Gulf of Mexico, Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012. The NGCC, which serves as a hub that provides an overall tracking and coordination of National Guard elements, has gone to 24 hour operations in preparation for Isaac making landfall. Nevada senator surveys flooding; Guard provided meals to displaced
Nevada National Guard Soldiers unload two pallets of MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) for the more than 3,000 displaced residents of Fernley, Nev., Jan. 6. The town of Fernley (located about 30 miles east of Reno) was flooded with icy water when a levee holding back the Truckee canal gave way Jan. 5 after a severe winter storm. Coastal towns underwater after heavy rains hit Oregon
The coastal town of Vernonia, Ore., was hard hit by heavy rains Dec. 2 and 3. Oregon Governor Theodore Kulongoski reviewed the damage from an Oregon Army National Guard UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter on Dec. 4.
