Holyoke, Massachusetts Man Sentenced to 12 Years Imprisonment for Crack Cocaine Distribution in Brattleboro
The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont stated that Chief Judge Christina Reiss of the United States District Court in Rutland sentenced Michael Caraballo, 29, of Holyoke, Massachusetts, to 12 years imprisonment to be followed by 15 years of supervised release. Caraballo previously pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute 28 grams or more of crack cocaine and, pursuant to a plea agreement, agreed with the government that a 12-year sentence was appropriate. The Court accepted this plea agreement.
According to court documents, in February and March of 2011 Michael Caraballo distributed several grams of crack cocaine and powder cocaine in Brattleboro. In addition, according to court records, on March 16, 2011 in Brattleboro, Michael Caraballo allegedly shot at, and hit, a vehicle containing a drug customer. No one was injured in this shooting.
Michael Caraballo, is the brother of Frank Caraballo, also of Holyoke Massachusetts, who was recently indicted, by the federal grand jury sitting in Rutland, for the murder of Melissa Barratt in Dummerston, Vermont in July 2011. In separate charges to which Frank Caraballo pled guilty, Judge Reiss recently sentenced Frank Caraballo to 200 months imprisonment for crack cocaine distribution in the Brattleboro area.
This case was investigated jointly by the Vermont State Police's Southeast Vermont Drug Task Force, the Brattleboro Police Department, and the ATF. The United States is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Perella. Caraballo is represented by Rob Sussman, Esq. of Burlington.
