ELK CITY FELON PLEADS GUILTY TO STEALING 25 FIREARMS FROM GUN DEALER
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – Earlier this week, CLAYTON JOHN SHINN, 22, from Elk City, Oklahoma, pled guilty to stealing 25 firearms, announced Sanford C. Coats, United States Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma. According to court records, on September 6, 2011, Shinn stole the following firearms from Stout & Son Pawn in Elk City, Oklahoma:

- Sig Sauer, model 522, .22 caliber rifle
- Colt, model Diamond Back, .38 special caliber revolver
- Bersa, model THD 380 Plus, .380 caliber pistol
- Glock, model 22, .40 caliber pistol
- Taurus, model 94, .22 caliber revolver
- Taurus, model 738, .380 caliber pistol
- One Taurus, model 738, .380 caliber pistol
- Smith & Wesson, model 642, .38 special caliber revolver
- Chiapa, model M422, .22 caliber rifle
- Taurus, model 991, .22 caliber revolver
- Browning, model Buckmark, .22 caliber pistol
- Heritage, model RR22MB6, .22 caliber revolver
- DPMS, model Panther, .223 caliber semi-automatic rifle

Shinn was indicted on January 17, 2012, and pled guilty earlier this week to three counts: (1) theft of the 25 firearms from a licensed firearms dealer, (2) unlawful possession of 25 stolen firearms, and (3) being a prior convicted felon unlawfully in possession of the 25 firearms. At sentencing, Shinn faces up to ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each of the three counts. Shinn remains in custody at the Grady County Jail until a sentencing hearing, which will be set by United States District Judge Stephen Friot in approximately 90 days.
These charges are the result of an investigation conducted by the Elk City Police Department and the ATF. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Travis Smith.
