Fort Atkinson Man Sentenced to 15 Months for Illegal Possession of Firearms

Madison, Wis. — John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Christopher L. Muckleroy, 27, Fort Atkinson, Wis., was sentenced today to 15 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of firearms. U.S. District Judge Barbara B. Crabb ordered that this 15—month sentence be served concurrently to the state sentence Muckleroy is presently serving, which runs until August 2012.

Muckleroy previously pleaded guilty to possessing firearms after having been convicted of a felony. In February 2011, Muckleroy was convicted in Jefferson County of possessing an improvised explosive device. In September 2011, he unlawfully possessed a Bushmaster .223 caliber rifle and a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber handgun.

Today’s sentencing was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Fort Atkinson Police Department. The prosecution of the case has been handled by United States Attorney John W. Vaudreuil.
