Alleged Gang Members Charged with Federal Conspiracy and Gun Charges for Burglary of Henderson Gun Store Last Summer
LAS VEGAS – Four alleged members of the Donna Street Crips, a criminal street gang in Las Vegas, have been charged with the theft, sale and illegal possession of firearms in connection with their burglary of a Henderson gun store on August 13, 2011, announced Daniel G. Bogden, United States Attorney for the District of Nevada.

Galtney, 24, all of North Las Vegas, are charged in a criminal complaint dated May 9, 2012, with one count of conspiracy to commit offenses against the United States; one count of dealing in firearms without a license; one count of possession of a stolen firearm; and one count of theft from a federal firearms licensee.
According to the criminal complaint, on August 13, 2011, at approximately 3:30 a.m., five individuals drove a stolen Crown Victoria through the front entrance of a Henderson gun store, and broke a glass display case and stole 21 handguns. The individuals then left the store in a separate vehicle and left the Crown Victoria inside the store. Evidence suggested that members of the Donna Street Crips were responsible for the burglary, and investigators identified five individuals, including the four defendants and another uncharged co-conspirator, as the culprits. Beginning in September 2011, investigators started recovering some of the firearms that were stolen in the burglary. Ultimately, a total of seven of the stolen firearms were recovered in the Las Vegas area during searches of various residences and following a robbery and a homicide.
Defendants Freeman and Galtney were arrested yesterday in the Las Vegas area, and will appear before U.S. Federal Magistrate Judge Carl Hoffman at 3:00 p.m. today. Defendants Williams and Edwards are currently in state custody on unrelated charges, and their initial appearance in federal court will be scheduled in the near future. If convicted, the men face up to 30 years in prison and up to $1 million in fines.
The case is being investigated by ATF, with the assistance of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Gang Crimes Bureau, the Henderson Police Department, and the North Las Vegas Police Department. The case was screened through the Southern Nevada Project Safe Neighborhoods Task Force, a team of federal and local law enforcement officers and prosecutors who meet on a regular basis to discuss arrests involving guns and explosives. Project Safe Neighborhoods, also known as PSN, is a Department of Justice initiative and a nationwide commitment to reduce gun and gang crime in America. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Phillip N. Smith, Jr.
The public is reminded that a criminal complaint is a preliminary charging document and is not evidence of guilt. The defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
