Madison Man Sentenced to Prison for Firearm Offense
A Madison, Illinois, man was sentenced to a prison term in federal district court for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon on May 31, 2012, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton, announced today.
Jarrell Rogers, 25, of Madison, Illinois, was sentenced in federal district court in East St. Louis to 33 months in prison, 3 years supervised release, a $100 special assessment, and a fine of $300, following his plea of guilty, on February 28, 2012, to an Indictment charging him with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The charges relate to an incident that occurred on August 20, 2011, in Brooklyn, Illinois, when law enforcement officers made a traffic stop of the car in which Rogers was riding and a search resulted in the seizure of a 9 mm. semiautomatic pistol, loaded with eight rounds of ammunition. Rogers was previously convicted of Unlawful Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance in Madison County, Illinois, on or about April 4, 2011.
The case was investigated by members of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen B. Clark.
