2012 NMTC Program Round Update

Electronic Application Now Available; Important Information for CDE Certification Applicants

Washington, DC – The Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) has made the electronic application for the 2012 round of the New Markets Tax Credit Program (NMTC Program) available to applicants through their myCDFIFund accounts.

Community Development Entities (CDEs) wishing to apply for New Markets Tax Credit allocation authority under the current round have until September 12, 2012 to submit their application. Full application instructions may be found here. Only electronic applications submitted through the myCDFIFund system will be considered.

Applicants should be aware that the CDFI Fund will stop taking questions about the electronic application at 5 p.m. EDT on September 10, 2012. Questions may be directed to the CDFI Fund’s Help Desk at cdfihelp@cdfi.treas.gov or (202) 622-6355.

The CDFI Fund opened the 2012 round of the NMTC Program on July 13, 2012. Links to relevant application materials may be found on the CDFI Fund’s website. Applicants should note that very minor changes have been made to the application since the paper version was posted on July 13. These changes have been highlighted in a replacement version of the paper application now available on the website.

2012 NMTC Application Webinars and Conference Calls

The CDFI Fund’s website has been recently updated to include the 2012 NMTC Program Application Webinar and webinar presentation materials. Those interested in viewing the webinar may visit the CDFI Fund’s NMTC Program webpage or the How to Apply webpage.

Conference Calls

The CDFI Fund will also conduct two one-hour conference calls to answer applicant questions. Please see below for the dates and times for each call. No presentations will be given during the calls; only questions from participants will be addressed. The dial-in number and pass codes are the same for all calls. The dial-in number is 1-888-989-7681 and the pass code is NMTC. No prior registration is necessary.

CDE Certification Update

The CDFI Fund has released a Request for Comment notice on the Community Development Entity Certification Application. The application is available for immediate use by potential certification applicants on the CDFI Fund’s website.

Due to the open application for 2012 New Markets Tax Credit allocation authority, the CDFI Fund will accept either the previous version or the current version of the CDE Certification Application until the 2012 NMTC Program round’s certification submission deadline of August 3, 2012.

The CDE Certification team will conduct a series of conference calls to provide further guidance on the CDE Certification Application. The dial-in number and pass codes are the same for all calls. The dial-in number is (202) 927-2255 and the pass code is 962624. No prior registration is necessary. The first group of these conference calls are set for the dates and times below. Additional conference calls are expected to be scheduled for later in August and September. Please note that the call is not toll free.
