I voted to repeal the government takeover of health care that raises costs, increases taxes, spends trillions of dollars that we don’t have, cuts Medicare by $500 billion, and destroys jobs. Additionally, I was part of the House-led effort to effectively repeal the onerous 1099 provision that would have been a serious burden to our small businesses with additional and costly regulations.

I also supported a resolution that seeks to replace the health care law with market-oriented solutions that will lower costs for Americans families and remove the government from the doctor-patient relationship. Encouraging innovative health care solutions like health savings accounts, increasing competition between insurance companies by allowing selling insurance across state lines, and implementing true tort reform are just some of the ways that we can begin to bring down costs for 5th District families and keep our quality of care.
