  2. This morning’s act of unprovoked, horrific violence, resulting in the brutal death of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans in Libya, is senseless and will not be tolerated. I condemn these attacks and my thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s families.
  3. This afternoon, I had the opportunity to help prepare care packages for our troops serving in Afghanistan. I am very thankful for all the USO does to help our brave men and women serving in uniform. God Bless our Troops!

  4. Earlier today, I joined my colleagues on the East Steps of the Capitol in a bipartisan manner to pay our respects to the brave men and women who were senselessly taken from us on that bright September morning. Please join me in remembering all of the innocent victims whose lives were taken, as well as their families and friends, on this tragic day, eleven years ago.

  5. Eleven years have passed since a group of terrorists declared war on our country by taking the lives of innocent Americans with the hopes of destroying the freedoms that we hold so dear. Today, we remember those who were taken from us on that fateful day and our brave men and women serving in uniform who have fought to keep us safe from future threats. You will never be forgotten.

  6. Congratulations to our two Paralympians from South Carolina's Second Congressional District, CeCe Mazyck and Jerome Singleton, who are competing in London. I enjoyed meeting Jerome during his visit to DC last month. Best wishes to the both of you!

  7. Enjoyed reading to a group of children at the Palmetto Pediatric Center in Aiken earlier this week. It was an honor to spend time with the doctors who care for our children. Thank you for having me!

  8. This morning's jobs report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics brings more bad news for our economy. Only 96,000 people found jobs, a number well below expectations, and 368,000 discouraged Americans dropped out of the workforce. Our country is in desperate need of REAL solutions that will put our nation back to work.

  9. Yesterday, our national debt reached $16 trillion. By the end of December, it is projected that our nation will have reached our debt ceiling which is currently set at $16.394 trillion. This is absolutely unacceptable. We MUST stop Washi...
ngton's out of control spending and restore faith in the American people that we can get our economy back on the right track by creating jobs and accomplishing success.

  10. Sadly, this afternoon, our national debt reached over $16 TRILLION. This fact reiterates the truth that the president's policies are failing our economy and the American people. In order to put our country back on the path to prosperity, our leadership needs to enact job-creation policies that will encourage private sector growth.
  11. Earlier today, I had the opportunity to visit and tour the Aiken Community Base Outpatient Clinic. This facility provides primary care and mental health services to over 2,500 veterans living in the Aiken-Barnwell community.

  13. Sadly, the Bureau of Economic Analysis announced today that from April-June, our economy only grew by a feeble 1.7 percent. This marks the second consecutive quarter of slow economic growth and the weakest recovery since the Great Depression. We must stop relying on the president's failed policies and begin addressing this problem with REAL solutions.
  14. Excited to hear today's announcement from eCycling International SC! The company is planning to locate its new facility in Allendale County. This $23 million+ investment is expected to create 18 new jobs!
  15. This afternoon, I'll call into The Afternoon Drive with Keven Cohen around 5pm. Feel free to listen LIVE here: http://bit.ly/PMtbzN
  16. SC has lost over 40,000 manufacturing jobs in the past decade due to the growth of the US trade deficit with China and currency manipulation. I, along with over 230 other members of Congress, have cosponsored legislation addressing this very important issue. Click the link below to view a map detailing each state's job losses.
