Rep. Kristi Noem will visit Georgia Morse Middle School in Pierre Tuesday to see the operation of the lunch room and discuss new school lunch standards with administrators.

Going into effect for the first time this year, the new standards are a result of 2010 legislation known as the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act and represent the first major changes in school meals in over 30 years. Last week, Rep. Noem sent a letter to United States Department of Agriculture Secretary (USDA) Tom Vilsack requesting additional information on the program and how USDA is monitoring its impact on students.
