Staffing

Brevard County Emergency Management Office is staffed with six members. Each member is responsible for different aspects of the mission. In addition to the staff, dedicated volunteers assist with coordinating programs, communication and training.

Disaster

Disaster strikes anytime and anywhere. It takes many forms -- a hurricane, a tornado, a flood, a fire or a hazardous spill, an act of nature or an act of terrorism. It builds over days or weeks, or hits suddenly, without warning. Every year, millions of Americans face disaster, and its terrifying consequences. Quite often, Brevard County residents become affected by these events.

The Emergency Management Office is an independent office of the county government, reporting to the Board of County Commissioners through the County Manager.

    • Teaching people how to get through a disaster
    • Helping equip local first responders
    • Making disaster assistance available to our communities, businesses, and individuals

    • Reviews and provides technical assistance for all Health Care Facilities' (Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Adult Living Facilities and Ambulatory Surgical Centers) disaster plans
  • Serves as liaison to the State Division of Emergency Management and other local emergency management agencies and organizations; and
  • Serves as the liaison and the coordinator of municipalities’ requests for State and Federal assistance during pre and post-disaster operation.
