Caregivers are motivated by love, duty and
professionalism, but the best intentions do not eliminate the potential
for stress, exhaustion, depression and resentment. Support for caregivers
is available through a variety of means.
National Family
Caregivers Association offers assistance, support and
referrals to those caring for loved ones. Outcomes, Inc. offers caregiver support groups in Bernalillo, Corrales, Placitas, Cuba, Jemez Valley, Peña Blanca and Placitas. Call (505) 243-2551 for more information. The New Mexico Alzheimer's Association offers information and support groups that meet throughout the state. Family Caregivers Online, an education and information resource for anyone who helps an older spouse, parent, relative, friend, or neighbor. |
