Rangel on the Passing of Ashley Turton

NEW YORK - Congressman Charles B. Rangel released the following statement Monday evening on the death of Ashley Turton, former Chief of Staff to Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro and wife of White House Deputy Director of Legislative Affairs Dan Turton.

"My deepest and heartfelt sympathies go out to Dan, his children and all the members of the Turton family on the loss of their beloved Ashley.

In a place that often poses more challenges than solutions, Ashley was known to never be deterred by the odds. She was a problem-solver, a professional who never let current circumstances get in the way of getting the job done.

All Members of Congress know that what they can accomplish for their constituents is uniquely determined by the team of aides and volunteers that operate their offices At the top of that list of recognition are our Chiefs of Staff, whose hard work often goes unpublished but never unnoticed.

In this difficult time, I pray that Dan, Ashley’s children and the rest of her family can find comfort in the fact that she was so well-respected and loved on Capitol Hill. A shining example of the best in public service, her hard work, dedication and contributions to her community in and outside of Washington will surely never be forgotten."
